THE RITZ SUITE

For Presidents: Residential Luxury at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore’s Ritz Suite

The Ritz Suite at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore is stately. Think 218sqm of gorgeous panoramic views, a large marble bathroom, and a grand living room filled with museum-quality art pieces including those by Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst. A truly elevated residential living experience right in the heart of the city .

The Entry

Perched on the hotel’s highest floor, guests are greeted with Marina Bay’s breathtaking views upon entering the double doors. Stepping in feels like entering one’s own pied-à-terre, away from the city’s frantic energy whilst still being in the heart of it. Oversized windows frame the view, with retractable roller drapes that provide privacy when desired. Designed by Terry Hunziker, the suite’s overarching theme is of a soothing colour palette of celadon, beige and khaki against a mixture of light and dark wood custom furniture. Dark walnut teak parquet flooring covers the entirety of the room, while the elegance of the suite is uplifted by lighting from Christian Liaigre. Mirrored surfaces and plush fabrics adds a touch of warmth and intimacy to the space, and is complete with a well-stocked bar that can be customised to your preferences. Expansive, but private altogether.

The View

Here at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, the views hold great meaning, too. Looking out of the living room’s panoramic windows, you will notice the circular driveway gracefully making its way up to the hotel’s lobby. Forming a large circle, it surrounds the twenty-five-metre pool wrapped around lush verdant greens. Combining aestheticism and cultural beliefs, Kevin Roche deliberately designed the hotel as a ‘dragon by the bay’, where the driveway represented its arms encircling water, symbolising luck and the longevity of wealth, according to geomancy principles.

The Dining Room

Adjacent to the living room is the serene and elegant dining room, its soothing colours apt to host both private board meetings and informal family dinners. Its grand Preciosa crystal chandelier which hangs elegantly from a gold, recessed ceiling, complementing the walnut dining table. The space feels like that owned by a well-travelled businessman - curated, concise and elegant, and framed by wall-mounted bookshelves and curated wall art pieces.

Bed and Bath

Bedrooms at luxury hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton are traditionally known to be an intimate affair, and The Ritz Suite is no different. The room’s main focal point is its leather-padded headboards bordered by strips of velvet, complete with oval-shaped bedside tables of light oak. The plush Sealy mattress beckons me invitingly to take a much-needed siesta, but not before the spacious master bathroom catches my attention. There, pebble-khaki tones create a feeling of serenity and calm. This atmosphere is heightened by an elongated 2-metre-long Jacuzzi tub which overlooks Marina Bay. It is fitted into a low-rise platform clad entirely in Pental Quartz, resulting in a rather zen atmosphere.

A separate shower stall-cum-steam room with an octagonal window overlooks Raffles Boulevard. Complete with highly-coveted Diptyque Philosykos amenities, bathtime at The Ritz Suite would momentarily transport you to a private Greek island full of fresh fig trees. To top it off, bath time indulgence is wrapped up with His and Hers micro-fibre Ploh bathrobes - truly a treat for the senses.

The Art

Guests with a discerning eye would also note the curated collection of exquisite artworks found throughout the suite. This includes original Damien Hirst’s Liver Bacon Onions and Dumpling artworks that hang in the bedroom-converted-study, while pop art lovers would appreciate Andy Warhol’s Flowers presence in the living room. Several other watercolour paintings depicting natural settings are also scattered throughout the space, making it a perfect haven for art connoisseurs.

Turning In

The Ritz Suite’s appeal lies in Hunziker‘s ability to weave a myriad of different fabrics, textiles, materials and colours to create a cohesive composition. Modern and contemporary at a glance, yet classic elegance in detail. The Ritz Suite’s well-crafted interiors and carefully curated amenities embodies of the needs and tastes of the sophisticated modern-day traveller.
